Upstream Dry Fly

Dry Fly Fishing

Upper River Test & beautiful River Dever EXCLUSIVE TO UPSTREAMDRYFLY

Upstreamdryfly have the exclusive letting on this first class water or the upper River Test and River Dever. 7 (2 rod) beats including the confluence of the rivers Test and Dever. The upstream beats are bounded by Bransbury Common - a SSSI nature reserve with all kinds of wildlife, barn owls, orchids and lots of insects offering excellent dry fly sport.

Hi Howard,

Just an email to say how much we both enjoyed the fishing on your beats. The Bransbury Common beat of the Dever was a memorable experience... Chalkstream fishing at its best. Despite the very hot conditions we both took fish on the Dever and Wallop Brook (at Bossington). The surprise of wallop brook was a whopping 24" Rainbow (probably a fishery escapee!) that I ended up hooking in one of the deep pools on a bend - I wasn't expecting that! Still, I had a lovely day fishing for the wild fish and took a lovely brownie of 12" out of a difficult lie.

I ended up mainly fishing a size 18 griffiths knat to take most of my fish and my father was doing well on either a small black knat or a small olive klinkhammer. We were blown away with the health of the Dever and the quality of the fish... Thankyou for the recommendation.

I'd be very interest as to which other beats you have similar to the Dever, as it would be lovely to take another trip into Hampshire? Are there any other beats available on the Common?

In the meantime, please pass on our thanks to the river keeper and below are some fish from the Dever.

Best Wishes
